SYNOPSIS

One of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies collides with the forces of nature in a visual and physical exploration of love, power and disguise. Music, disguises and masks, letters and deceptions fill the story and give the play its name, relating to the revels traditionally held on the twelfth night of Christmas.

Viola must deal with the certain death of her twin brother Sebastian in the shipwreck that has brought her to the shores of Illyria. Meanwhile, the death of Olivia's brother precipitates a seven-year self-imposed state of mourning, which the Count Orsino cannot breach in order to woo her.  Disguised as "Cesario", Viola becomes a member of Orsino's household, tasked with the duty of wooing Olivia.  Olivia falls in love with Cesario, Viola falls in love with Orsino and her twin Sebastian appears, causing mayhem and mischief with everyone in both households.

TWELFTH NIGHT was presented as part of the Storm in a Teacup: The Tempest & Twelfth Night Western Sydney Tour, which featured 2016 Bachelor of Performance graduating students and was presented by AIM Dramatic Arts in association with Western Sydney partner venues: Bankstown Arts Centre, Casula Powerhouse and the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre.
