SYNOPSIS

London, 1913. On the 4th of June, the greatly anticipated Epsom Derby took a dark turn when Emily Wilding Davison climbed the fence onto the track and was trampled by the King’s horse, trying to attach a Suffragette sash to its neck. Four days later, she died for her cause.

Disenfranchised by a patriarchal society, the suffragettes became increasingly militant in their tactics. The resulting arrests and incarcerations in Holloway Prison numbered in the thousands. Hunger strikes and the cruelty of force-feeding were common.

Amongst these women were Lady Celia Cain, and factory seamstress Eve Douglas. Brought together by their cause, the ladies’ worlds collide behind the towering prison walls, leading to irrevocable change in both their lives.

HER NAKED SKIN was a 2014 AIM Dramatic Arts production featuring graduating Bachelor of Performance students.
